SUMMARY OF 2009-2010

Resident Ceramist Artist - Annie Welch

Building on our work with the blacksmith and ceramic artists, the children created a big mosaic which is centered in our spiritual area.  They also created smaller ones which decorate the walls of our school.  They thoroughly enjoyed themselves as did the staff!

You are most welcome to come and see our metal sculptures and mosaics based in the spritual area and our wall sculputures.  Please contact the school office if you are interested.

The Arts

Arts Mark - Gold - we continue to work within our Arts mark status. The school put on a hugely successful ‘Alice in Wonderland’ production in the summer term. This went on to star as our float in the Liphook Carnival.
We had a number of travelling theatre companies come in to show the school:  a pantomime for Christmas (Dick Whittington), also another company came and performed Elmer the Elephant.   All the children who study musical instruments performed to the school showing us the results of a year's hard work.  We also had performances from years 3 and 4 who have been learning ukulele and brass.

Healthy Schools

Healthy Schools Status - enhanced. We continue to keep our school a healthy one as befits our status, not only physically but also our children are happy to learn. We have also renewed our Active Mark. Not only do we teach our children about healthy eating but we provide many different types of physical exercise in the form of a good P.E. curriculum within school and clubs out of school hours. The children are given opportunities to attend tournaments and take part in matches eg football, tag rugby, athletics, tennis, kwik cricket,  rounders etc  We follow  the 'Rights, Respect and Responsibilities’' programme based on the United Nations Rights of the Child.  The children continue to be represented by the 'Young Governors' who are elected by their peers and who meet regularly to discuss topics such as ..'how to make their play area better for everyone!'  We took part in the national anti-bullying week.  Some of our older children have been trained as Activity Leaders and have attended a Peer mentoring conference, others are JRSO’s (Junior Road Safety Officers).
