Young Governors

Greatham Young Governors (YG) is a group of students who are elected to represent the views of all pupils. Each year, every class will normally elect 2 representatives to be members of the Young Governors. The year 6 representatives then become the Chairperson and Vice Chair. They meet fortnightly, during one lunchtime and have a working lunch followed by being active in some way.

One of the main things that the Young Governors do is represent the views of all the children at our school and get things done. This last year has seen them complete a campaign on tidiness and manners, raise money for a bin for the playground, some nets for playtime football and also enter various competitions.

There is a lot of work that goes on in the meetings. They always start with children feeding back issues from their peers. Then the children decide on their next priority and set about working on it. The children take their roles very seriously, they work in conjunction with the PTA and represent the school at many of the school functions.
